Life Changing
Today is the first official day of work for my husband. Yes, he worked all summer. However, he got to do the “fun” work. He only had to coach all summer. Today, well, today he walks back into the classroom from 7-3, then coaches from 3-does he ever stop? With evening practice, and late night parent and booster meetings this week, it is really a “Welcome Back” week for us all.
I was extremely blessed to start this coaching wife calling with one of the absolute greatest humans to walk the Earth as a “Coach’s Wife Mentor.” I tell every person, some people ask, “What would Tami Taylor do?” and I literally think daily, “How would Hollie Hutto handle this?” I was a young 20 year old girlfriend when Coach was hired. Hollie scooped me up and loved me like I was her best friend. I will forever be grateful for that season of life. She taught me so many things like: iron your husband’s coaching pants. Don’t take the trash cans to the road, he can do that. Fluffing the house takes away stress. But most importantly, pray for your husband more than you pray for anything. It took 17 years for this to really click for me.
Last season was the hardest season our family faced as far as coaching. It was a real doozy. However, I am so so grateful for that very season. Last season built our “platter.” (Your platter is your plate of life. How much can you handle on your plate? We like to say we have a platter.) Last season “pray for your husband” really made sense to me.
This book did it. This book changed my life.
This book made sense to me. Each word I was connecting to like it was written to ME. Each reflection question had me journaling paragraph responses. As a coaching family, this book changed ME. It was actually the first devotional I actually finished. I was crushed when it ended. It sparked my love for morning time with Jesus. I found myself NEEDING my morning to start with Jesus in my chair. I immediately order another devotional. I started reading the Bible from start to finish every morning. This book was what opened the door to my morning routine.
Now, I know it was God that stirred that desire to change my habits. I just really feel it was THIS devotional that taught me HOW to sit with Jesus every morning.
If you find yourself in a panic about this season, I say start with Jesus in the morning. Pray for your husband. Give it to God each and every morning.
It will be life changing.
